Reflecting Together: JICA's Journey of Solidarity and Support in the Wake of the Türkiye-Syria Earthquake

As we mark the first anniversary of the devastating earthquake that struck Türkiye and Syria on February 6, 2023, the JICA Türkiye Office has prepared a special booklet to share the experiences and stories of those who stood by their side during this challenging time. This commemorative booklet captures not only the profound impact of the earthquake but also highlights the strength and resilience of the affected communities.

The booklet focuses on the personal stories and reflections of JICA Türkiye Office staff, members of Japan’s Disaster Relief Rescue and Medical Team (JDR), and Turkish officials who have participated in training programs in Japan. It serves as a testament to the close collaboration and friendship between JICA and the people and government of Türkiye, demonstrating how JICA worked hand-in-hand with local communities to provide relief and support.

As we continue to strengthen the bond between Japan and Türkiye, especially in this 100th anniversary year of diplomatic relations, this booklet stands as a humble reminder of the shared experiences and resilience we have witnessed, offering hope for future cooperation and solidarity in times of crisis.
