Japan-Türkiye Summit Meeting

On December 1st, Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan, attending COP28 in Dubai, met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye for a Japan-Türkiye summit. During the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed concern about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and emphasized the importance of maintaining the pause in fighting. Prime Minister Kishida also expressed regret over the resumed fighting and stressed the need for all parties to follow international law and protect civilians. Both leaders confirmed their commitment to work together to improve humanitarian conditions in Gaza. They also agreed to strengthen bilateral relations in areas such as economy, energy, and tourism, especially in light of the upcoming 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
