Notice of Japan Training Fleet's Visit to Sarayburnu Port

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force training fleet, including "Kashima" and "Shimakaze," will visit Sarayburnu Port in Istanbul from August 9 to 12, 2024. This visit commemorates the 100th anniversary of Japan-Turkiye diplomatic relations and aims to promote goodwill between the two nations. During their stay, there will be public tours of the ships, as well as demonstrations of Japanese martial arts and performances by the fleet’s band.

The fleet, with around 570 personnel aboard, embarks on extended training voyages to educate officer candidates while fostering international goodwill through activities and joint exercises with the countries they visit.
