01/ The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force training fleet, including "Kashima" and "Shimakaze," will visit Sarayburnu Port in Istanbul from August 9 to 12, 2024. This visit commemorates the 100th anniversary of Japan-Turkiye diplomatic relations and aims to promote goodwill between the two nations.
03/ On March 13, 2023, the Government of Japan decided to send Self-Defense Force aircraft to assist with earthquake relief efforts in the Republic of Türkiye. This decision was made under the Act on Dispatchment of the Japan Disaster Relief Team in response to the devastating earthquake in the region.
05/ The Embassy of Japan is actively pursuing collaboration with Türkiye to support the reconstruction of Ukraine. Building on the successful partnerships that Japanese and Turkish companies have established in third countries over the years, the embassy aims to extend this cooperation to contribute to Ukraine's rebuilding efforts.
07/ The "27th Japan-Türkiye Business Council Joint Meeting" will be held in Tokyo, organized by DEIK/Türkiye-Japan Business Council in collaboration with its counterpart, KEIDANREN (Japan Business Federation). This significant event is expected to be attended by Türkiye’s Minister of Trade, Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat, along with prominent Turkish public representatives.
09/ On September 13, 2024, the Japan-Türkiye Business Network visited the Turkish Embassy in Tokyo. We had the honor of presenting our initiatives and activities to H.E. Ambassador Korkut Güngen.
02/ On December 1st, Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan, attending COP28 in Dubai, met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye for a Japan-Türkiye summit. During the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed concern about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and emphasized the importance of maintaining the pause in fighting.
04/ On August 24, 2023, Ambassador Takahiko Katsumata, together with Union of Municipalities of Türkiye Chairman Yücel Yılmaz (also Mayor of Balıkesir) and Kahramanmaraş Mayor Hayrettin Güngör, as well as JICA Türkiye Office Director Yuko Tanaka, announced that Kahramanmaraş has been selected as the model city for reconstruction planning
06/ On October 1, 2024, the "Japan-Türkiye Construction Industry Conference" will take place in Istanbul, hosted by the Turkish Contractors Association (TMB) and with the participation of key organizations including the Turkish Ministry of Economy, the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, the Overseas Construction Association of Japan, Inc. (OCAJI), as well as representatives from prominent Japanese construction firms.
08/ JICA Türkiye Office has prepared a special booklet to share the experiences and stories of those who stood by their side during this challenging time. This commemorative booklet captures not only the profound impact of the earthquake but also highlights the strength and resilience of the affected communities.
